Photo Libraries: Improving Water Quality in Australia

This photo demonstrates the health of the land surrounding
the creek below. Graeme Hand took this picture of the water
that came into his property after a one-inch rainfall in August
(jar on left) and how the water looked leaving his property
that same day (jar on right). Their property is approximately
500 acres and the creek runs for a mile through their property.
Because the Hands' land is so healthy, no water (or soil) runs
off their property during a rainstorm. Thus, the creek is able to
filter the sediment coming into the Hands' property and clean
the water before it leaves. These results are typical of people
who have improved their land management through more
effective grazing planning and Holistic Management.
